New Bank Holiday; Snow stops work - who is paying?
I'm going to do my grumpy old man bit here...
I thought it was quite bizarre when David Cameron announced that 'he' was giving everyone a Bank Holiday for the Royal Wedding in April.
Is it just me or is it actually us, the employers who pay for this. I assume all staff will expect to be paid for the day they have just been given off, and I don't suppose the government have considered that businesses may not like such an assumption. Businesses have to either pay staff to be off work, or pay extra for them to work as normal.
Now we have the snow which has a similar impact. We are fortunate at Impreza as we can work remotely to a large extent. However, I wouldn't want it to be like this too often.
