The Medway City Estate

Social network for businesses.

I'm sure everyone has been experiencing the awful problems leaving the estate in the evenings. Having looked around it seems there is a Medway Council web site where we can lodge a complaint. I have already put my opinion in.

The link is https://www.medway.gov.uk/forms/serveform.asp?formName=complaint-ca...

I know several people have said that traffic lights on the roundabout at the tunnel exit roundabout would be a suitable approach. Any other opinions would be most welcome. Maybe we can achieve something together.

I think that not allowing parking on Anthonys Way (even if just making it a no stoppping zone between 4-6.30pm) would help the situation as it would allow 2 lanes out and make the road safer.

I don't think the council will agree to traffic lights. It will help some people leaving MCE but I think it may cause further congestion for those coming from Chatham/Gillingham through the Medway tunnel?

I have completed the form via the link above and think if we all do this the council may just listen and offer some solutions.
I feel traffic lights would be the solution at the top roundabout (rush hour only), although it has been mooted that this would be a H & S issue because of jams in the tunnel I do not agree. Every night the traffic is jammed through the tunnel anyway and there is adequate ventilation in the tunnel. This problem has been ongoing for years and the Council do not seem interested in resolving the issue, it is so frustrating to leave work and sit in the car for a minimum of 30 minutes to get off the Estate.
Some of you may have seen that Sarah from Medway Messenger has joined this Social Network now.

She telephoned me earlier to ask my perspective on the traffic situation as a local employer. I explained how it affects me and the staff who work here but everyone else should have a say too. There are people who need to be at their destination on time and cannot manage with these delays.

I suggest we keep this forum updated and spread the word to others who may wish to join in as it is a Medway City Estate focused group which will only have opinions from those affected by it. If we can get our message across to the media then the Council will no doubt start to pay more attention.

Hello all

I see Stewart's already mentioned the Medway Messenger's interest in this story. I will doing some coverage for next week and would love to talk to people about their experiences getting off the estate. Give me a ring on 01634 227880 or email sshaffi@thekmgroup.co.uk.

I am sure this has been mentioned before but I will say it anyway... Install traffic lights at the round about and have them in opperation during the rush hour.. I know it won't eradicate the problem but it will keep the traffic flowing..
