The Medway City Estate

Social network for businesses.

Hi all.
Just thought we'd let you know, the Medway Messenger have a double page spread article on the traffic problems here on the city estate in this Fridays paper. (Nov 27th)
It'll be interesting to read the reaction to the horrendous traffic problems from different areas of the community.
Cheers,

I have just read this week's coverage. Well done to all at Medway Messenger.

I'm not sure I agree that the extra lanes are going to make much difference, that will just mean more cars are trying to get on the roundabout at once. I guess we will all have to just wait and see.

Hello all

I hope you managed to get home safely through the bad weather.

We're putting together coverage for upcoming issues of the Medway Messenger and I'd love to hear your "horror" stories about getting off the estate last night through the snow, and indeed, about your entire journeys home.

Please leave me a message or give me a ring on 01634 227880.

Thank you.

Sarah
What on earth was going on with the traffic last night??? Left the office at 18:10, thinking it would be a nice clear run off the estate - took nearly 30 minutes! Madness.
And again last night (Thursday). It took me 25 minutes to get to MacDonalds from our office in Laser Quay.

It is becoming impossible to plan anything if it involves getting out of work in reasonable time.
I thought this may be of interest to people. The council are trying to help the road situation, but it has been delayed until April.

THANKS KMFM

The update is very welcome and I missed this in the news.

Shame it is still a month or so off but everything comes to those who wait.

No remedy for the other exit through Whitewall road / Banks road then. Hoping the other exit will take some extra traffic.

I thought it might raise this issue once again.....

Now we have the revised road markings on the roundabout at the tunnel exit. Do people think it has helped?

I was in quite a queue last night and felt it was in part due to traffic coming from the tunnel stopping in front of cars leaving the estate, despite the marking which say it should be kept clear. Maybe it should have a yellow cross hatch instead to make it more obvious. I was turning right towards the tunnel and had a job getting across the queuing lanes of cars.

Hi

I don't think that the proposals for the new roads on & off Medway City Estate will make a blind bit of difference!

What is needed 1st of all is part-time peak hour traffic lights on the tunnel approach, we only need to get a drop of rain or ice and everyone is afraid to pull out at the roundabout!!

They should also make the entrance from Macdonalds as NO RIGHT TURN, everyone should have to go down to the roundabout and rejoin the traffic,- the amount of accidents that I have personally witnessed through people trying to pull across the queing traffic , just a simple idea like this would stop the accidents

What is needed

Commissioners Road exit was a nightmare again last night, yet the solution seems so simple I can't believe anyone hasn't already suggested it. If the junction at the bottom of Station Road was a box junction it would allow the traffic from Station Road to get through the lights more than a 2 or 3 at a time and ease the backlog all the way up to Banks Road and Commissioners Road.

A box junction would not make any difference.

They need to stop people turning right onto Station Road from Banks Road and the traffic light sequence / timings needs to change.

I have spoken to Medway Council about this and suggested (with pictures) traffic light systems with filter lanes.

No right turn at McD's.

No right turn at bottom of banks road and a mini roundabout at the top of banks road.

They are waiting on Sainsbury's to get their funding in place for a new shop in anthony's way.

I think as an estate we need to complete a petition or equivalent to get them to do something...

I am happy to join forces with people to get this done.

Perhaps each road could have someone to go round and get the forms signed?

Or a signmaker could put a HUGE sign up on exiting the estate (BOTH ENDS) to tell them to go to a website (this one?) to sign a petition???
