The Medway City Estate

Social network for businesses.

I heard from a police colleague the other day that a number of the boy racers who race around the car parks and estate were issued with a Section something or other notice following submission of their car registrations and some photo's

Apparently if they are report again and it can be confirmed they will have lose their cars eve if it is a different one from the registration reported previously as its the person who is issued the warning....  hey Ho  :-)

Don't get me started Alex !!

This drives me mad. Many an evening I am here (in Laser Quay) trying to work after 6:30pm and then they arrive; racing around the car park. I have taken photographs of them and even a short video clip but don't know who to hand them to.

I know Laser Quay is not the only area of the estate affected, so it would be useful to know what the correct procedure is.
It’s all unsociable behaviour

Quite right - Sue Fill is the right person.

Would also copy in this email address to:

strood.rural@kent.pnn.police.uk

which goes to the team, rather than just Sue individually. Just in case she's off / ill etc etc.

We get them in Neptune Way / Neptune Close. Had three of the little sods, racing around in go-kart's the other evening making a right old racket. They were just too far away to get a useful pic/video, and I didn't fancy getting close enough to get the pic/video in case they reacted badly to it!
Yes, we have had the go-karts around here too.

Thanks for the contact information though. I hope more members read this so they are aware too.
Hello

I'm doing a piece on the boy racers for the Medway Messenger, and was looking for people who wanted to comment on the issue. I'm happy to keep people anonymous, but would just like opinions on the boy racers and the effect they have on the estate. If anyone does want to comment, send me a message.

Sarah
Think this maybe a bit one sided to do a peice just on the boy racers - although this is the highlighted area and possible the most dangerouse, there are others that attend the estate whom a lot of people would also like not to. People who come and simply park up to eat thier McDonalds or Pitza and then simply open the car door and leave all the rubbish, cans and contents of thier car ashtray on the floor outside and then drive off. There are bins in some areas and if people were to be a bit more thoughtfull and respectful to the area then this would reduce the negativity. Some of those who attend and fish from the waterside, many of whom do clean up after themsleves but still the odd few who leave a mess behind.

Additionallt some who attend and deliberately play football against the building windows off all the properties on the waterside, I would like to see the local police make the occasional drive round to the rear of the buildings which may wake a few people up and lessen the regular attendance.

I would certainly not be surprised if some were using using the area for doing unlawful activities of various nature also.
Hello Alex

Thanks for your comments. I'm happy to do follow-up problems on other problems on the estate, as I'd never be able to fit everything into one piece!

The initial piece will focus on the boy racers, which is a problem the police say they are aware of. As I said, I'm then happy to do another piece or pieces on other issues.

Sarah
I'd back and agree with all the points raised by Alex.

Interestingly, I happened to be driving through a retail business estate in Stoke on Trent (which if I remember rightly was Festival Park) yesterday afternoon, and there were some pretty beefy offical notices up as you were driving around indicating that there was a "High Court Injunction" in place, which would immediately with any cruisers / boy racer types simply by filming their number plates with the implication given that instant action would be taken.

Seemed very much like something we could really benefit from here on the MCE - perhaps worth identifying how they achieved the order, and copying the model learning from their experiences.

Richard
In fact, after a minute of Googling - found this:

Sounds good to me....

Well done Richard for spotting that.

Regards

Alex
For more information on this please see the discussion called Estate Security

According to the statistics http://www.police.uk MCE does not appear to be a major problem!, That or there are not many reports being submitted.  Maybe we should invite the local constabulary to join our merry band of members as guests?
